Rivet gives you full control over video and audio settings, allowing you to get the best quality for your stream.
You can adjust Video Resolution, Framerate, Video Bitrate, and Audio Bitrate in the Contributor Camera section of the Stream Settings.
Resolution:
This should ideally match both your Contributor and Progam resolution. Keep in mind, that when you open up the Rivet App on your contributor device Rivet will override the settings
For example, the built-in cameras on a Macbook Pro only support up to 1280 x 720. If you set the Rivet Stream to 1920 x 1080 and open the Rivet App on your Macbook, it will automatically adjust the resolution to 1280 x 720.
Rivet does support external capture cards to help avoid this issue.
Rivet will take in interlace signals if your capture card supports it. However, we do recommend progressive when possible.
Video Bitrate:
Click on the Video Bitrate dropdown menu or type in a bitrate. Rivet supports anything between 700kbps - 20,000kbps.
The dropdown menu includes the following presets:
- 700 kbps
- 1 mbps
- 2.5 mbps
- 5 mbps
- 10 mbps
- 15 mbps
- 20 mbps
It’s best practice to perform an internet speed check to make sure your upload speed can handle the bitrate you selected. Give yourself headroom in case your internet speed takes a hit.
For the best results, we recommend using hardwired internet over wifi when possible.
If you start seeing video errors in your stream, try lowering the bitrate. Internet blips can sometimes cause temporary issues like that. If that doesn’t help try increasing your SRT latency.
Audio Bitrate:
Click on the Audio Bitrate dropdown menu and select a bitrate.
Rivet supports these Audio Bitrates:
- 96 kbps
- 128 kbps
- 192 kbps
- 256 kbps
Select a higher bitrate if you’re streaming music-heavy content.
