Rivet How To: Remote Contributor on Mac

The Rivet App allows contributors to join streams from all around the world. The app is available on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. 

 

You can Launch the app from Rivet Dashboard or open the app manually and paste in the Rivet ID.

 

 

                       

For Contributor Camera Streams, each app version will have a dropdown menu to select a Video Source, Audio Source, and Resolution. 

 

 

Resolutions will only appear if they are supported by the selected Video Source.

 

Video Sources can include webcams, video outputs from programs like vMix, and NDI streams. 

 

Rivet will recognize any NDI streams as long as the devices are on the same network as the NDI source. 

 

A preview of the video source is displayed at the top of the menu on the desktop versions.

 

Audio Sources include microphones, Bluetooth devices, and audio outputs from NDI streams. 

 

Check the Backup File Recording / Record box to save a recording of the stream on the device. 

 

 

Click on the Choose Backup File Location box to set where you want to save the recording. 

 

Click on the Settings tab to adjust Stream Settings.

 

 

You can adjust the following settings:

• Stream Resolution
• Stream Frame Rate
• Stream Latency
• Stream Encoder
• Stream Encoder Profile
• Multisync
• Stream Audio Bitrate
• Stream Video Bitrate
• Recording Resolution
• Recording Audio Bitrate
• Recording Encoder
• Recording Encoder Profile
• Recording Video Bitrate

                      

Click on the Rivet Info / Information tab to see:   

• Contributor Feed IP Address
• Program Feed IP Address
• Encryption Passphrase
• Stream ID

 

This tab can be toggled off from the stream settings in Rivet Dashboard.

 

    

 

Click on Start Broadcast to start the stream.

 

 

The Contributors Feed will fill the preview screen. Audio meters are displayed on the left side of the screen.

 

 

Click on the Microphone icon beneath the meters to mute the mic. 

 

Mic gain can be adjusted with the scale above the meters. Drag the cursor to the right to increase the gain. Drag the cursor to the left to decrease the gain.

 

 

Click on Stop Video to hide the video feed.

 

 

The lower menu bar displays the Input/Output Type, Stream Status, Current Bitrate, Current Frame Rate, Latency, CPU, Stream Duration, and Recording Status.

 

 

Click Stop Broadcast to stop the stream from the app.

 

 

You can also end the stream from the stream settings in Rivet Dashboard by clicking on the Stop button.

 

 

If a Program Feed is enabled, the Contributor Cam will appear in a PIP window on the side of the screen. The Program Feed will fill the rest of the display. Click on Hide My Video to hide the Contributor Cam.

 

The menu bar will display the status and statistics of both feeds. 

 

 

Program Feed-only streams have a different menu that displays the Stream Name, Rivet ID, Settings, and the Start Playback button

 

     

 

Settings for the desktop apps include Audio Output, Decoder, Program Feed Latency, and enable NDI Output.
